JYP forced to clarify that he isn’t financially in bed with Sewol ferry company, nor a religious cult

The lack of K-Pop releases must have intensified the power of netizen tin foil hats as Park Jin Young and JYP Entertainment were forced to release statements saying that JYP isn’t in any financial dealings with the company involved in the Sewol ferry tragedy. They also had to clarify that JYP isn’t a part of a religious cult that may be involved in this whole clusterfuck.

Apparently, JYP’s wife being related to the owner of the company responsible for the Sewol ferry is grounds to think that the two parties exchange huge amounts of money (and possibly baby seal tears) between them:

Singer and producer Park Jin Young denied any monetary involvement between his JYP Entertainment and Yoo Byeong Eon, the de facto owner of Cheonghaejin Marine, the operator of the Sewol ferry.

Park Jin Young wrote on his Twitter on April 28, “Other than the fact that my wife is related to the company in question, there is no other connection. Is this a country where you can write anything you want?” In this message, the producer acknowledges that his current wife, whom he married last year, is related to the Yoo family, but denies any other form of connection with the people and company that are being investigated in regards to the Sewol ferry and tax evasion.

While trying to put out that particular fire, JYP Entertainment had to work double duty to clarify that JYP is also not a member of a religious cult (that also probably drinks the tears of baby seals obtained through the Sewol ferry tragedy):

Rumors had started to spread earlier in the day that JYP Entertainment had received illegal funding of 500 million KRW from the Evangelical Baptist Church, otherwise known as the Salvation sect. Park Jin Young also denied any personal connection to the religious cult, writing through his Twitter, “My religious position will be clear if you listen to any of  my interviews or the music I have released. I have studied many religions over the past few years, but I still don’t have a religion.” Park Jin Young asks, “I hope  groundless rumors will stop spreading.”

JYP Entertainment also released an official statement regarding the rumors, stating, “It is true that Park Jin Young’s wife is the niece of the former chairman Yoo Byeong Eon. However, Park Jin Young is not religious, and the agency has never received any illegal funds, not even 10 KRW.”

The cult in question is reportedly linked to the owner of the Sewol ferry which puts a nice little bow on this little piece of crazy:

A possible link between the owner of the boat involved in the Sewol ferry disaster and a creepy sect involved in pyramid selling schemes is being investigated by police.

Officers in Seoul have carried out raids on a religious group called the Salvation Sect which is headed up by Yoo Byeong-eon, thought to be the owner of the shipping line.

According to the Korean Herald, many members of the sect work for Chonghaejin Marine, the company which owns the Sewol ferry.

Of course, because JYP is now on the record as not being religious, expect rumors to pop up of him being a Satanic warlock who profits off the tragedies of others (while also drinking the tears of baby seals) in order to fund his various projects.

K-pop releases need to start coming back soon, if only to give netizen amateur detectives something more fruitful to do such as speculating on which idol had plastic surgery or who is dating who based on two seconds of exchanged eye contact at some function. Leave the criminal investigating to actual criminal investigators. Baby seal tears are precious and shouldn’t be carelessly thrown around in rumor-mongering.

Save him from netizen paranoia.

Save this poor baby seal from netizen paranoia.
