Waifu Wednesday: Juhyun

juhyun spica ww cover

Park Ju-hyun (better known as Juhyun) is a South Korean idol rapper, singer, dancer and actress. She is best known for being the rapper and vocalist for K-Pop girl group of way-too-much-talent SPICA.

Juhyun’s story is pretty typical of SPICA’s members. She bounced around between auditions and agencies for ten years before finding a home with B2M Entertainment. A year later, her and a four other overqualified K-Pop castoffs debuted as SPICA. If there is one thing which sets Juhyun apart from most of her K-Pop rapper counterparts it’s that Juhyun can sing about as well as the rest of SPICA. When you have great singers like Boa and Bohyung, that’s no small feat. Add in the fact that she’s incredibly pretty, and Juhyun really is the total package. How it took ten years for her to latch onto an agency is a mystery that will baffle me until the end of time.

Her:

Juhyun is so talented that there are college courses devoted to her skills.

Double threat.

Double threat.

Juhyun is so pretty that painters pay her commissions to paint her portrait.

Worth.

Worth.

Juhyun makes me geek out harder than a Star Trek convention.

Knocking on heaven's door.

Knocking on heaven’s door.

Juhyun’s beauty is so great there is no measurement system which can adequately capture it.

Why hello there.

Why hello there.

Juhyun is so hot that the Earth’s core can’t handle it.

Aaaaaaand dead.

Aaaaaaand dead.

bless your beautiful soul for finally putting the spotlight on this goddess.. and a heads up, she recently changed her name to Park Sihyun (http://www.soompi.com/2014/10/16/spicas-park-ju-hyun-changes-name-to-park-si-hyun)!

    1. Thank you, I actually didn’t realize that it was official. I had seen the name being spelled differently but was unsure if that was just a translation preference or not.

  2. SPICA seems like sad proof that most arguments about singing ability are largely based around praising one’s K-pop crushes (male & female) rather than a true desire to appreciate the most talented vocalists.

Which is not to say people have a moral obligation to value singing over any other gift/talent but rather an exposure of hypocrisy on the part of some fans.

  3. Looking into those deep, dark, beautiful eyes, you can see the soul of the entire universe.

  4. I didn’t know she could sing until You Don’t Love Me, so it was a nice surprise. She’s the total package for sure. I really hope these girls take off this year, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

    1. Me either but I’ll be happy as long as they are in the scene.
