Nicole Jung Will Reunite With Sweetune For Her Solo Debut

While Nicole Jung will be starting her solo career with a new agency and will apparently be showing a “new image,” she will be looking towards a familiar face to produce her debut.

It wouldn’t be a KARA-related party without Sweetune:

According to a source in the music industry, the idol will launch her solo promotions with a song produced by Sweetune. The producer is known for producing some of Kara’s biggest hits, such as “Mister,” “Lupin,” and “Jumping.”

When asked about the musical direction of Nicole’s debut album, a representative of her new agency B2M Entertainment commented, “She is currently in the midst of rigorous preparations. Her new image will definitely be different from her past one.”

“While there will be sexiness involved, the overall concept is not sexy. The concept will have a powerful feel that helps her fill the stage by herself, and we are planning to showcase a previously unseen side of her,” the representative revealed.

Nicole’s solo debut will reportedly be released in mid-November.

As for the Sweetune news, the pairing makes sense.  Not only was Sweetune behind Nicole’s solo effort under KARA, “Lost,” but the production team was also responsible for basically every single KARA single and stuff like Rainbow’s “A,” Nine Muses “News”, “Ticket” and “Dolls” as well as Spica’s “Russian Roulette” and “Lonely.” That team pumps out hits (albeit ones that are often a bit on the “poppier” side). It may not be that surprising that Sweetune is working with Nicole but it’s pretty welcomed news.

  1. I just hope they don’t make Nicole gain weight to “help her fill the stage by herself.” 🙂

Good luck to her. Hopefully her debut goes well. I wonder if it will be a kind of teaser single that she drops first followed by an EP a bit later or whether an EP will drop with it. At least Nicole has the advantage that she isn’t a complete unknown debuting as a soloist, so there will be plenty of her personal and Kara fans coming out to greet her and cheer on the shows and that should also boost sales initially to move the song up the charts to where it gets some attention paid to it.

  2. That’s welcomed news. Frankly, I don’t care who sings it because I’m jonesing for a good K-Pop tune from Sweetune, Shinsadong Tiger, Duble Sidekick, Brave Brothers, or anyone producer that can get away with those kind of names.

Also, you got to love the drivel from the agency. Here’s what I think they mean:
“She is currently in the midst of rigorous preparations. Her new image will definitely be different from her past one.” [translation] she’s losing weight (but stuffing her bra)
“While there will be sexiness involved, the overall concept is not sexy. [translation] she will flash her navel, but not her navel ring.
The concept will have a powerful feel that helps her fill the stage by herself, [translation] we’re going to save some money on background dancers, and let Nicole show you the cool moves she’s picked up in the States.
and we are planning to showcase a previously unseen side of her,” [translation] new hair colour!

    1. Maybe we should go back and review all Kara videos and live performances and see if there is a side of Nicole that we haven’t seen before. Maybe they have been concealing a side of her for years through the clever use of camera angles and choreography.

I sure hope Nicole isn’t losing weight. She’s already plenty thin. She might disappear if she loses more weight as petite as she is.
