Today marks the first year anniversary for this little blog that almost, kinda, sorta grew up to be… whatever the hell this tiny corner of the K-Pop world is.
So, in a look back, here are what I consider to be the highlight posts over the past year.
1. Babby’s first post: Review: SECRET – “Poison”
A little rough around the edges, but SECRET will always hold a special place in my heart for making “Poison” and compelling one writer to launch a blog to purely hnnnnngggg over Hyosung. Because Hyosung is worth it.
Sometimes, it’s almost as fun to tear into something as it is to spazz out. “Today” is probably the most negative review on the site as it’s not too often that something gets gleefully called “some form of pop music herpes”. But to be fair, it’s really fun to write that sentence. As for “Bloom”, it’s one of the few times where a K-Pop music video portrayed female sexual politics in a mature and refined way. One of my favorite releases from last year, and the review conveys it better than some of the other ones.
3. Most Popular Waifu Wednesday: Jeon Hyosung
Yup, she’s still the queen of the Waifu posts around here. Can’t blame anyone for this one as Hyosung is freaking ridiculous (Though, if it was broken down into views/month, amazingly it would be Clara… the internet likes bewbs, who knew?).
4. The Best Waifu Wednesday: Wang Fei Fei
ALL HAIL THE GODDESS OF ALL CELESTIAL BEINGS AND RULER OF ALL THE UNIVERSE’S FEELS.
5. The Most Popular Man Candy: Kang Gary
The most shocking thing looking back on the past year is that the most popular Man Candy is not the stupidly handsome face of Siwon, nor the abs of Taeyang, but the plain faced, variety star and rapper Gary. There must be a ton of Monday Couple shippers out there who crave any and all Gary and Ji Hyo pictures (Please, please, please marry each other and make a lot of talented babies you two).
6. The best Man Candy: TOP
Those eyebrows. Sigh, those eyebrows.
7. Babby’s favorite post – HYOMIN CELEBRATES SURVIVING FOUR YEARS OF THE HUNGER GAMES THAT IS T-ARA
Sometimes, stories write themselves. This was one of those times.
And with that, one year has flown by. Thanks to y’all for reading and contributing with your ideas, thoughts, suggestions and spazzing. It’s been fun. Now, on to the next year, may it be filled of silliness and Wang Fei Fei.
